Since we are young, we are ingrained little by little that mistakes are things to be avoided, repeled and in classes, something to be ashamed of. It is hard not to make mistakes in a field where few things are known, but if we are on a path to search for the truth in a field, we shall not be afraid of commiting those mistakes. Curiosity should be the guide and fire that leads the scientific progress, not the fear of commiting mistakes. Mistakes are something to be learned of, a way for nature to redirect our path and to grow from. In some circumstances, we dont even have to commit mistakes to grow and learn from them, as others will do it for us. It is one thing to make a mistake. It is a completely different one to keep making it.Lets not lose sight of our prioriy of getting closer to the truth. If we do not err, we do not learn. If we do not learn, what is the point of science ?
''Have no fear of perfection- you'll never reach it'' -Salvador Dali
I agree completely that mistakes will be made and should be made. But how will we know when we keep making a mistake, so that we can stop making the same mistakes over and over?
